Octo Mom

Ok. I know this isn't political, or a life changing event... but I can't help but comment on the entire circus.

First... I completely agree with you all. She is nuts. She is all about the money. Period. But here's my beef. As I was watching the interview with her, Ann Curry comes off with this comment about one thing people are worried about is that number of children growing up without a father.... that children need a father. Bla Bla Bla. Well, being a single mom that struck a cord with me. Does Ann Curry have any IDEA how many children in America are growing up without fathers?? Over 40%. There are also a boat load of statistics out there saying how detrimental it is for a child to grow up without a father, but some of us single mothers have no other choice. My child is growing up without a father in her daily life, and she is going to be just fine. No one is giving me grief over it. And that shouldn't be a grievance on the plate with Octo Mom either.

Second, her being single being such a big deal. WHY?? Ok... so she has 14 kids... but in my mind adding a man in the mix doesn't make it any less CRAZY to have that many children!! What... the sudden appearance of the "super dad" figure makes it affordable to buy a million and two diapers?? The addition of one adult would offset all the additional children's needs?? One extra income would allow them to send all 14 children to college so they'll have a chance in this world? I don't think so!! Most women that I know with children do it all anyway. Yet these happy little married "couples" that have BROODs of 8 or 14 or even 18 are placed on a pedestal?? Their families are "miracles" or "gifts from god" and they get their own TV shows so we can share in the abundance of joy these children bring them. No one gives them crap for deciding to procreate that many times. But they are JUST AS CRAZY AS SHE IS!! Single or married, it's nuts to have that many children in today's world.

My theory on Octo Moms situation??? She was married. She couldn't have kids. Her and the hubby went and had some embryos concocted. As a couple, they had a few babies. One invetro procedure costs $20,000 or more, so he must have had some dough. Its common to insert two or more embryos to save money because there's a high risk that the body will reject the foreign embryo and absorb it. Well... after a few kids... Mr. Sperm bank leaves her. Well.... here's the kicker. She still has embryos frozen from HIM. His DNA. He's the daddy. What do you want to bet... she gets child support from him. The more of those little embryos she hatches the more she can take it to his ass. It's probably a revenge deal on him and she just decided to cash in on the craziness of it all with the media.
